Professional Fee Schedule

Professional fees reflect the selected service, its agreed scope and the complexity of the matter. All amounts below are in Chinese yuan, expressed as CNY or ¥.

How to Read This Schedule

A fee is meaningful only with a defined scope.

The schedule identifies the principal deliverables and limits. Detailed material specifications and engagement terms are confirmed in writing before substantive work begins.

Standard Services

A defined professional fee

A standard review or evaluation may be requested directly. Its stated fee applies within the specified document, issue and response limits.

Representation

An assessed starting fee

Fees marked “from” are starting amounts before eligible retainer discounts and evaluation credits. The actual engagement is quoted after assessment.

Additional Work

Prior written confirmation

Additional issues, documents, response rounds, hearing attendances or service periods require an agreed adjustment or separate written quotation.

Evaluation & Review

Written case evaluation and employment documents.

These services address a defined legal question, matter or document set. New facts or requests that materially change the original scope are assessed separately.

Maximum two additional issues
One defined legal issue, one written response and one clarification round limited to the original issue. Initial evidence: up to five standardized pages. Issue summary: up to 1,000 English words or 1,500 Chinese characters.
Comprehensive Written Case Evaluation ¥1,800
Additional matter: ¥900

One eligible document of up to ten standardized pages, an annotated copy and a risk list of up to ten points. A separate evaluation or response round is not included. Expedited acceptance is subject to availability.
New Employment Review Package ¥2,499 Employment contract, offer, employee handbook and up to two ancillary agreements, subject to a combined limit of thirty standardized pages. A written interpretation report and one clarification round.
Eligible documents and material limits

Standard review covers employment contracts, offers, employee handbooks, confidentiality or non-compete agreements, performance policies, PIP notices, disciplinary notices, task documents and draft separation agreements. Other document types are individually quoted.

Handbook scope and any selected core chapters must be confirmed before review. Larger handbooks are not treated as an unlimited single-document engagement.

Annual Employment Law Retainer

A defined annual allocation for the individual employee.

Retainer reviews and evaluations use the same scope limits as their corresponding standard services. Allocations are for the named client only.

Annual Retainer Tiers
Benefit Core Retainer Enhanced Retainer
Annual professional fee ¥3,999 ¥6,999
Employment document reviews 6 12
Focused written case evaluations 2 6
Eligible specialist-service discount 10% 15%
Eligible representation discount 5% 10%
Scheduling Standard engagement scheduling Priority scheduling and an emergency-response arrangement defined in the retainer terms
Use of allocations Valid during the retainer year. Unused allocations do not carry forward. Benefits are not transferable or available for another person.

Retainer boundaries

Retainer allocations cover standard document review and focused written evaluation. They do not include custom response strategies, drafting, continuing case management, external negotiations or procedural representation.

Specialist services and arbitration or litigation remain separately scoped engagements.

Specialist Workplace Engagements

Response planning for a specific workplace situation.

Each engagement concerns a defined matter. Additional situations or a materially expanded evidence record require a revised scope.

Workplace Risk Response

One specific signing, approval, nominal-role or responsibility issue. Written risk evaluation, protective response wording and an evidence checklist.
PIP Response Strategy ¥4,999

Formal Written Employment Negotiations From ¥5,000 per matter
Additional round: ¥1,000

Specialist scope is not procedural representation

These services do not include labor arbitration, court proceedings, criminal defense, independent investigation or interview attendance unless expressly added through a separate accepted engagement.

Employment Exit

Defined engagements for separation and continuing restrictions.

The scope depends on the documents, negotiations and stage of the employment exit.

Employment Exit and Non-Compete Services
Service Professional Fee Principal Scope and Limits
72-Hour Employment Exit Response ¥6,999 Signing-risk checklist, evidence-preservation guidance, written negotiation strategy, three written evaluation rounds and final review of directly related documents totaling up to twenty standardized pages. All included rounds must be used within the accepted seventy-two-hour service window.
Negotiated Employment Exit: Single Round From ¥8,000 Defined strategy, one written employer-negotiation round and final separation-agreement review. The engagement ends at the agreed scope boundary.
Negotiated Employment Exit: Extended Engagement From ¥12,000
Additional round: ¥1,000
Up to five written employer-negotiation rounds and final agreement review within a sixty-day service period. Continued work after the period requires a new agreement. Arbitration and litigation are separate engagements.
Employment Exit Document Review ¥1,999 Separation agreement, employment certificate, work-permit cancellation documents and non-compete activation notice, totaling up to twenty standardized pages. Annotated documents and signing recommendations.
Non-Compete Evaluation & Negotiations From ¥8,000 Evaluation of the restriction, up to three written negotiation rounds concerning release or exemption, and a dispute-response outline. Arbitration and litigation are not included.
Commencement of the 72-hour service

Availability must be expressly confirmed before acceptance. Following acceptance, the agreed service period begins when the professional fee is received, as recorded in the engagement. An initial message does not start the service window.

The stated fee already includes the expedited nature of this service; the general urgency surcharge is not added.

Formal Legal Representation

A separate professional engagement for each procedural stage.

Arbitration and litigation fees are fixed for the agreed scope. The starting amounts below are before eligible retainer discounts and case-evaluation credits.

Arbitration, Litigation and Enforcement
Stage Professional Fee Included Scope
Labor Arbitration Beijing: from ¥10,000
Outside Beijing: from ¥12,000, plus travel
Application or defense submission, evidence organization and submission, and up to two hearing attendances.
First-Instance Litigation Beijing: from ¥10,000
Outside Beijing: from ¥12,000, plus travel
Claim or defense submission, evidence organization and submission, and up to two hearing attendances.
Appeal: Mark Handled the First Instance 50% of the first-instance professional fee actually paid
Starting indication: ¥5,000
Case-record review, appeal or response submission and one hearing attendance. The final fee is confirmed against the first-instance engagement and applicable complexity adjustment.
Appeal: Another Lawyer Handled the First Instance Quoted using the first-instance fee schedule Case-record review, appeal or response submission and one hearing attendance. The ¥5,000 starting indication above does not apply.
Judgment Enforcement Separate written quotation Scope, fee structure and service period are individually agreed after evaluation of the enforceable instrument and enforcement circumstances.

Additional hearing attendances

For arbitration and first-instance litigation, an additional hearing beyond the included two is ¥2,000 in Beijing. Outside Beijing, it is ¥2,000 plus applicable travel expenses.

Separately quoted procedural work

Counterclaims, property preservation, expert appraisal, investigation or evidence-gathering applications, witness preparation and comparable additional work are not included in the base representation scope.

Credits & Retainer Benefits

The calculation order is part of the engagement.

Eligible credits and retainer discounts can operate together, subject to the conditions below and written confirmation.

Initial Case-Evaluation Credit

The fee for the first written case-evaluation engagement may be credited in full against the representation fee when the case engagement is entered into within thirty days.

One initial case-evaluation credit is available per case. Document-review fees are not automatically included in this credit.

Representation Calculation

First apply the eligible annual-retainer representation discount to the agreed representation fee. Then deduct the eligible initial case-evaluation credit.

The published ¥10,000 Beijing starting amount is before these eligible adjustments, rather than a final post-adjustment minimum.

First Specialist Calculation

Deduct the qualifying first-specialist credit first: 50% of the retainer fee actually paid, capped at ¥2,000. Then apply the specialist-service discount.

The credit is available once during the retainer year. Eligible services and the resulting fee are confirmed before commencement.

Illustrative calculation

For an agreed representation fee of ¥10,000, an eligible Enhanced Retainer discount of 10% produces ¥9,000. If an eligible ¥699 initial case-evaluation credit also applies, the resulting representation fee is ¥8,301.

This example explains the calculation order only. It is not an individual case quotation.

General Engagement Provisions

Scope, scheduling and additional work.

The following principles apply across the schedule. Product-specific provisions take priority where a different arrangement is expressly stated.

How are materials and document limits assessed?

Document limits refer to standardized A4 single-sided pages using the agreed font size and 1.5 line spacing. The approximate reference is 600 Chinese characters or 400 English words per page.

A countable Word or PDF document is required. Page and text limits are assessed together, with the first applicable limit determining the included scope. Extra text is charged at ¥100 per additional 1,000 Chinese characters or 500 English words, subject to prior scope confirmation.

Reformatting, splitting a document or submitting screenshots does not enlarge the agreed material allowance. Unusual formats require an agreed assessment method.

What counts as a clarification or response round?

A client response round means one consolidated written submission from the client and one corresponding written response from Mark.

A clarification remains within the original facts, question or report. New facts, new requests or a materially different issue require additional scope.

Employer-negotiation rounds follow the specific definition stated for that service rather than the client clarification definition.

How do expedited services operate?

Expedited acceptance depends on availability and the submitted materials. An initial message does not establish an expedited engagement.

The accepted 24-hour single-document review has its specific ¥899 fee. The 72-hour employment exit service already includes its expedited character.

Other accepted work requiring delivery within forty-eight hours carries a 50% urgency surcharge unless a different written quotation is agreed. Specific expedited provisions are not combined with the general surcharge for the same service.

When do service periods begin?

After acceptance of the engagement, time-limited service periods begin upon receipt of the agreed professional fee, as recorded in the written engagement.

Working-day references use Beijing time and the applicable Chinese public-holiday calendar. A stated seventy-two-hour window is a service-period limit, not a commitment to continuous real-time contact.

What changes the original quotation?

Additional documents, issues, matters, response rounds, deliverables, hearing attendances or service periods may require an adjustment.

Work outside the confirmed scope is separately quoted in writing and undertaken after client confirmation. An engagement for one procedural stage does not automatically include another stage.

How are cases outside Beijing handled?

Out-of-Beijing engagements are assessed individually. Necessary travel is reimbursed at actual cost under the agreed arrangement.

Remote hearings do not carry an additional surcharge merely because they are online. Included hearing-count limits and any additional substantive work still apply.

Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou are service locations, not additional office locations. Mark’s office is in Beijing.

What expenses are separate from professional fees?

Applicable court or institutional charges, expert costs, agreed third-party work and necessary travel are not automatically included in the professional fee. Their treatment is specified in the written engagement.

Any additional external expense requiring client approval is addressed before it is incurred.

What communication channels are used?

Client communication is conducted in writing through email, WeChat or WhatsApp text. Telephone, video and in-person client consultations are not part of these services.

Agreed hearing attendance is distinct from client consultation and is included only where the representation scope expressly provides for it.

Individually Confirmed Engagement

Discuss scope before committing to a procedural route.

Identify the relevant service, your city and any approaching deadline when contacting Mark. Case suitability, availability, professional fees and deliverables are then confirmed in writing.
